Baby Brother

Just a quick update and an apology for not posting in a couple of weeks.

Baby Brother is due to arrive on March 25 - this Thursday. We go in at 4:30 a.m. to begin the induction process and are hoping it goes as smoothly as it did with Carter. With Carter, we went in at 7:30 and had him at 2:18, so here's hoping Baby C will make his entrance by noon!

Please keep Derrick, Carter, and I in your prayers. It will be hard on us being away from Carter, but I know will provide some wonderful bonding time with the new little man. Pray for a safe delivery, a healthy baby and mama, and a happy big brother!

Love to all our friends and family :)

My Little Tackler

Here are two short videos of Carter and Derrick playing tackle in the playroom after work one day. We try to go up and play at least a couple days a week for an hour or so. It gives Carter plenty of space to run around, lots of toys to mess up, a tent to hide in, and so much enjoyment.

This night, he and Derrick were running and tackling one another, as I sat by and laughed, and GiGi sat by and barked and ran after them. It makes me smile so big that my boy loves his Daddy SO MUCH!

In the first video, listen for Carter to "grrr" at Derrick when he takes a few steps then turns back around to tackle him again.

In this video, I love how Carter just lays down and screams at the end. That's another great thing to having the playroom - it is away from the rest of the house and is a total kid-zone!

The End of Month 17

I wanted to capture a few pictures to commemorate Carter's last official month as an only child. These pictures are from last week and are just a few snapshots that show daily life at the Pennington household.

Make sure to get every last bite, munchkin!

LuLu & The Ducks

Saturday, February 20, Katlin spent the night with mom and dad, so we decided to bring her to our pond and let her feed the ducks with Carter. I was worried she might be scared or not know what to think about them (they can get really close when you have food), but she didn't miss a beat and had a good time eating the popcorn vs. feeding it to the ducks.

After we fed the ducks, Carter decided he should show her the ropes at the little playground right by the pond. They were so adorable together, as always, and had such fun playing.

She kept pointing and wanting to pick up the popcorn off the ground to eat it

LuLu eating, Carter throwing. Even though they are about the same height, this is a perfect picture to show how much tinier she is than Cart-Man.

As usual...his "Smile" face

Smile, Lu!

Ready, set, go!

Basketball!

Anytime we get a little bit of sunshine or slightly warmer weather, we head outside to play in the cove - either riding in the wagon, going for a "walk" (which is very slow with Carter, but he loves it), or watching GiGi from the front porch. Lately, Carter has been obsessed with going outside on the driveway to play basketball. It is so cute to hear him say it - sounds like "ba-ball" but he now defintiely knows the difference between that and football (boot-ball). Here are some pictures of him throwing the ball back and forth with Daddy. I can't wait until he's bigger and able to actually play on a little goal :)

A look of sheer concentration as he awaits the return of the ball

He looks like he's trying to figure out which way to go - left, right, straight to the goal!

A Visit From Papaw

Towards the end of last month, Derrick's dad came over for dinner, much to the happiness of Carter. He kept looking at him and saying "Papaw" like he was so excited and almost couldn't believe he was there. It was precious and something we hope to repeat more often!
