Exciting Times in the Exersaucer

I love how excited he gets - just jumping and babbling!

Snow & The Exersaucer

Carter experienced his first snow on Wednesday, January 28, even though it was just the tiny bit you see below. I had to hurry and snap a picture when Derrick got home from work before it all melted!

First snow with Daddy - we didn't get out of our pj's all day!

Carter in his exersaucer - he loves this thing.

He can jump, spin, stand up, and put all the toys in his mouth - all favorite pastimes!

Weekend Wrap-Up

Things I did this past weekend instead of laundry:
  • Went to TJ Maxx Friday night with Derrick, Dad, and Carter
  • Went to Jackson, TN Saturday to meet Karen for lunch & shopping
  • Hung out with Carter Saturday night while Derrick went to the casino
  • Went to church Sunday morning
  • Headed down to Southaven with Derrick, Dad, and Carter to visit Lindsey, Scott, and Katlin
  • Grocery shopped
  • Watched TV

Here's a picture of Carter with Lindsey & Katlin from Sunday.

Cater, looking not very much like himself, but a mother can't be objective when it comes to her own baby!

Katlin - she has a TON of hair now and is catching up to Carter size-wise.

We hope you all had a great weekend, too!

Another Video Post

Last night, we were doing some tummy time with Carter and guess what...he actually rolled from his tummy to his back twice with no assistance! Derrick would hold a toy in front of him then move it around Carter so he had to roll over to see it, and voila, he did it! Of course, when I ran to get the video camera, he wouldn't do it any more, but I hope to get a video of it this weekend to post on Monday.

Here's the little drool monster post-roll last night.

Update - Bullet Style

I haven't done an update post since Carter was 10 weeks old, so I thought I'd tell you all what the little boy wonder is doing these days.
  • Eating cereal with a spoon while sitting in his high chair
  • Drinking 4 bottles a day, 6 ounces apiece
  • Laughing uncontrollably when I hold him and dance around or sing to him
  • "Petting" GiGi - though I'm not sure GiGi would call it petting, maybe more like attacking
  • Boycotting naps - he thinks he's big enough to stay up all day, every day
  • Starting to lean towards open arms - he's not reaching for us yet, but he's close
  • Enjoying reading books, looking at the pictures, and grabbing it from me

Our night time ritual:

  • Eat cereal, drink bottle (between 7:00 - 8:00 p.m.)
  • Bath, if it's bath night
  • Pajamas
  • Read a story and read from our Baby's First Prayers book
  • Ride on his rocking horse
  • Snuggle with Mommy on the couch - fall asleep in her arms
  • Get in bed like a big boy

We are starting to work on sitting up unassisted and have continued to work on rolling over with Carter. He is strong and is so close to being able to roll but just won't take the plunge. As soon as he does, we'll post video evidence!

Monday Night Fun

Last night, after the great cereal experiment, Derrick and I decided it was time for Carter to practice rolling over. We played on this blanket that my friend Becky made Carter, and as usual, I had to document it in pictures. My little boy isn't so tiny anymore, is he?

Reaching for Mommy & the camera

I am slowly learning some of the special effects my camera can do...I need a whole day to read the manual and play around with the settings, but getting even an hour by myself is next to impossible most of the time!

Carter & Daddy - they used to be identical twins, now I think Carter is starting to look like a mixture of Derrick and I.

Carter & Mom - sitting up like a big boy!

The best shot we got of the 3 of us...better than nothing at all!

The Cereal Experience

Carter tried cereal for the very first time last night. He had NO CLUE how to use a spoon, didn't open his mouth when the spoon was in front of him, and I don't think he even liked the texture of the cereal on his tongue. We kept giving him part of his bottle to wash it down, and when we'd pull it out to give him the next couple of bites, he would cry. It was equally cute and pitiful.

Here's a little sampling of Carter vs. Cereal!

Can you spot Carter?

When I got home from work yesterday, I just about keeled over with the cuteness of Carter. Nikki gets him dressed for me everyday and put him in his new camoflauged outfit...too adorable for words! He got this from Uncle Jim and Jason and Derrick and I both love it. He has never gotten anything camo, so this was a perfect wardrobe addition.

Sitting on Mom's lap, avoiding the camera!

In his Bumbo, he looks so small!

There's a smile finally!

Feeling Better & Laughing

Here's a short video that I shot last night of Derrick making Carter laugh. I was in the kitchen unloading the dishwasher and could hear Carter cackling from our bedroom on the other side of the house. As you could probably guess, as soon as I got in there, his laughing was much more subdued but still as cute as ever. Enjoy!

Happy New Year

Happy New Year, friends and family! Derrick, Carter, and I hope you got everything you wanted for Christmas and that 2009 is already off to a great start for you and your loved ones.

This past week has been hectic. Carter has been really sick with his first upper respiratory infection and double ear infection. The picture below details just how pitiful he was. We just stayed in pajamas all day and snuggled. Derrick was also pretty sick, so it's a wonder that Mommy didn't end up with a cold herself, but I must have a good immune system!

HAPPY NEW YEAR!!! Health, wealth, and happiness in 2009!
